In Eugen Herrigel's 1953 classic book Zen and the art of Archery he writes "...fundamentally, the marksman aims at himself and may even succeed in hitting himself." As a headshot photographer, I make the image the moment I recognize the humanity I see in myself reflected in the face of my subject.
